General Description
Camphill Holywood is a small urban community. Set in the lovely town of
Holywood on the shores of the Belfast Lough, it operates an organic bakery,
café and general food store. 8 Shore Road BT18 9HX is a popular place for
a snack, a meal or just good company and a chat. 
The bakery produces organic breads and sweets of various kinds which are particularly
popular with gluten-free and dairy-free customers. We have a name throughout
the province for special organic dietary breads, as well as the ordinary brown
and white loaves. Camphill Holywood has won the Bridgestone Guide Award for Best
Food of the Year every year since 2003.
The café, with its friendly and personal atmosphere attracts customers from
all walks of life. Fresh organic soups, breads and combos, as well as a variety
of drinks and cakes, (some dairy-and gluten-free) bring comfort and pleasure
to many.
The general food store stocks organic produce, as much as possible from local
sources, though part has to be brought in from other countries. A small selection
of crafts made in other Camphill centres is also on sale in the shop.
These three departments are each manned by a workmaster, volunteers from around
the world and some special needs adults who enjoy the respect and standards
that work in the town can give them.
